Gleeson, Aplins and Black Weirs |
 |
 |
Originally established as water storage facilities,
the Gleeson, Aplins and Black Weirs are seldom used as potable water
supplies, except for Black Weir which acts as an emergency supply source.
However, the weirs are being used as a basis on which the majority of
the new by-laws regarding water quality for recreational authority are
being assembled.
Located along the Townsville Thuringowa boundary,
the Black Weir has a holding capacity of approximately 2950 megalitres.
