Thuringowa Mayor, Cr Les Tyrell

Les Tyrell has been a resident of North Queensland for most of his life and has been Mayor of Thuringowa since 1991.

Prior to this, Cr Tyrell was self-employed in his own Financial Services consultancy dealing in investment, finance and insurance.

Cr Tyrell is an ex-officio member of the Council’s Health Development, Works and Finance Committees and Chairs the Public Relations Committee.

In addition, he is also a member of the Local Government Association of Queensland State Executive representing District 9, and a member of NQ Water of Directors of the Queensland Local Government Superannuation Fund.

Cr Tyrell is the Chairman of the Breakwater Island Casino Community Benefit Fund, Thuringowa Community Policing Partnership and alternative Chairman of the Townsville Thuringowa Counter Diaster Committee.
